Eva's Book Meme

I was tagged by Rhinoa from Rhinoa Ramblings who was tagged by Gautami Tripathy and Annie the Superfast Reader.

Which book do you irrationally cringe away from reading, despite seeing only positive reviews?
IT by Stephen King, and the reason is, it's a huge book. I nagged my hubby for that book, and he bought me it and now it's just sitting on my shelf collecting dust, much to hubby's disappointment. But it looks like such a chore to read!! I know, I'm crazy and one day I will get around to reading it. :)

If you could bring three characters to life for a social event (afternoon tea, a night of clubbing, perhaps a world cruise), who would they be and what would the event be?
Hermoine, Ron and Harry from the Harry Potter series. I love the adventures they get into. The HP series has been one of my most favourite reads. I'd love to go and snoop on Snape with them. :)

(Borrowing shamelessly from the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde): you are told you can't die until you read the most boring novel on the planet. While this immortality is great for awhile, eventually you realise it's past time to die. Which book would you expect to get you a nice grave?
Well the most boring book I've ever read was Katherine the Virgin Widow by Jean Plaidy, and also Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult, so anyone of those..... *yawn*

Come on, we've all been there. Which book have you pretended, or at least hinted, that you've read, when in fact you've been nowhere near it?
I've never done that, not yet anyway. But there's always time 'he he he'.

As an addition to the last question, has there been a book that you really thought you had read, only to realise when you read a review about it/go to 'reread' it that you haven't? Which book?
I don't think that's happened to me either? I keep a blog so I know all the books I have read.

You've been appointed Book Advisor to a VIP (who's not a big reader). What's the first book you'd recommend and why? (if you feel like you'd have to know the person, go ahead of personalise the VIP)
That's easy! The Time Travelers Wife by
Audrey Niffenegger. Why? Because I love that book, it is most probably the best book I have ever read. It's the first book I read about time travel, and reading this book I felt as though I was really there, I just couldn't put the book down. My emotions were pulled in all different directions. Everyone should read that book, it's just too good to be collecting dust on a shelf. I would even beg the person to read it, that's how passionate I am about that book.

A good fairy comes and grants you one wish: you will have perfect reading comprehension in the foreign language of your choice. Which language do you go with? Mmmm Japanese.

A mischievious fairy comes and says that you must choose one book that you will reread once a year for the rest of your life (you can read other books as well). Which book would you pick?
For Fiction: The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I told you it was great! ;)
Non Fiction: Journey of Souls by DR Michael Newton. Also I have to include this one; I Can Make You Thin by Paul Mckenna.

I know that the book blogging community, and its various challenges, have pushed my reading borders. What's one bookish thing you 'discovered' from book blogging (maybe a new genre, or author, or new appreciation for cover art-anything)?
New Authors, I wouldn't know half of the authors I've found without visiting online blogs and forums.

That good fairy is back for one final visit. Now, she's granting you your dream library! Describe it. Is everything leatherbound? Is it full of first edition hardcovers? Pristine trade paperbacks? Perhaps a few favourite authors have inscribed their works? Go ahead-let your imagination run free.
OK, you remember the Library in Beauty and the Beast? Well that would be my Library. Need I say more? ;)

And the final portion of this assignment is to tag four others:
Confessions of a Bookaholic
Tanzanites Shelf and Stuff
Jess at My Front Room
Aarti at Booklust

*And, for extra credit, if you leave a comment letting Eva know you've done the meme with a link to the post, she will give you some link love via a big list of who's participated. Additionally, if you link back to her original post, she will enter you in a drawing to win The House at Riverton. If you're an American, this is especially exciting since it isn't going to published until April. ;) To be in the drawing, you must have posted the meme (and commented) by February 5th, which is when she is holding the drawing.

I picked Japanese as well! I loved Time Traveller's Wife...it was the only book I brought with me for a summer in St. Petersburg, so I ended up reading it around 4 times. :)

Aatri - You're welcome, I just read yours. :)

Eva - I chose Japanese as most French and German is very popular, and I quite like the idea of learning Japanese. I'm glad you like Time Travelers Wife, and it's well worth re-reading four times! :)

I just realized I spelled your name wrong in my post, Margo- so sorry! I've edited it now.

I LOVE the library in Beauty and the Beast- who doesn't? :-)

And I also really enjoyed The Time-Traveler's Wife. Especially as it had SO many references to so much stuff in Chicago that I see/do all the time. Loved it!
